American sea Captain Richard Phillips was rescued Sunday from Somali pirates. Phillipswho had been held hostage for three days in a lifeboat off the coast of Africa.
Three of the pirates were killed and one was arrested after a volley of gunfire in which Phillips escaped and was immediately rescued by the US Navy.
Phillips, 53, of Underhill, Vt., was transported to the USS Bainbridge nearby.
